Muddy Fun!

Pre-school children love exploring mud, so they especially like playing in the mud kitchen. On Wednesday they had all the rain water which had mixed with the soil to explore and make creations with. So if your child comes home a little muddy you will know they have had fun at nursery!

Sullivan used a bowl to scoop water into a pan as he made "potions"

Sophie used the muddy water to wash her pots in

Isla used a paint brush and muddy water to 'clean' our mud kitchen

Sullivan, Cody, and Jasmine worked together

Brody enjoyed pretending to be the Daddy making coffee

Sullivan took his pan over to the kitchen to continue making his potion.

Look how much fun we had!

World Maths Day

We had great fun at world maths day with so many wonderful maths activities. Here are some pictures and videos from our day. We baked cakes and Amy spoke to the children about measurements and time and then they used the numicon to cut the dough. We poured to fill containers in the water area. We directed the bee bot and spoke about which way it was going and how many instructions we needed to give it.  We built tall towers and long enclosures in the construction area. Some of the children came with us to the fruit shop, on the way we encouraged the children to point out shapes and numbers in the environment. When at the shop the children chose one piece of fruit and took it to the till to pay for it, they enjoyed handling money and eating their fruit.  Hope you all got your home activity sheet we are looking forward to seeing some pictures!

Harvest

We took the children to Holy Trinity Church to deliver the Harvest basket. Thank you for any donations, they will be going to  Vincent House for the homeless.

Learning through play

In pre-school we have lots of play opportunities for the children to engage in, as children learn best through play. Adults in the room play with the children to extend their play and further the opportunities. Playing with your child at home will not only help them to develop and learn, it can be a way to find out what’s going on in children’s lives. Children often replay scenes from their lives, putting their own emotional spin on the day’s events. Joining them gives parents insight into their thoughts and concerns, enabling them to help them find solutions to conflicts.
